ETPA, the school of video gameWorking
in video game
The aim of the video game training provided by our schools in Toulouse, Rennes and Montpellier is to train creative people with high technical skills in video games, enabling them to integrate the professional market as soon as they have graduated from their 3 years of studies.
Head of school
A true artist and game creator, the professional video game designer can use his creativity to serve both platform games and video games. The phenomenal development of computer software has now revolutionised this profession by setting gaming professionals free from the limits previously imposed.
The field of intervention of game creators has widened and ETPA has chosen to give its students the benefit of this by providing them with specific, very comprehensive education, also including the learning of modelling and animation software. Our relations with the professional world and the attentiveness of our teachers, who are for many active professionals, have led us to give an even broader and more expert dimension to our training by integrating the study of programming languages.
We demand that each student achieve a great step forward during their time at ETPA, but their efforts will be rewarded by rapid professional integration into a booming job market.
ETPA's Video Games department, opened in 2012, is a part of the school's global project, which is to offer excellent training to its students, preparing them in the most effective way possible for a career path that meets their expectations and ambitions.
By joining the video game sector, ETPA wanted to offer high-quality training, responding to a strong need in the sector, and offering to its students long-term professional opportunities.
In order to provide its students with a high level of education, ETPA has built up its teaching team by employing the services of top-level professionals, capable of distilling to our students all their expertise in the video game field.
The school also takes great pride in providing its students with advanced equipment on which they can perfect their artistic and technical skills. The mastery of the professional tools they will have acquired throughout their training at ETPA will be a real plus once they enter the job market.
ETPA, a video game school, offers a 3-year training course:
IMMERSION AND EXPLORATION
A real immersion in the world of video games, the first year of the program provided by the ETPA, a video game school, aims to lead students to explore the world of video games in its technical and creative aspects. The mechanics of video games, the first steps in the design of characters and settings, first notions of programming... This first year, rich in knowledge, is marked by 2 individual projects, allowing the implementation of the concepts studied and a mastery of the fundamentals.
THE DESIGN ITSELF
In the 2nd year of video game training, students really get their hands into video game design. In order to do so, the acquisition of programming languages and the practice of design software is really pushed to the limit, requiring a serious and flawless application on the part of the students. Two video game projects have been completed this year, validating the acquisition of technical and graphic skills.
THE CLOSEST TO PROFESSIONAL REALITY
The third year of the ETPA course is divided into two parts. In the first phase, the video game school students will perfect their expertise, focusing in particular on digital sculpture tools, creating procedural textures and further developing their knowledge of computer programming.
