The Video Game department's
educational team

A team of passionate and
highly-qualified teachers

ETPA, more than just a video game school, is also and above all a human adventure led by its students but also its teaching team.

Sometimes former students themselves, our teachers and pedagogical staff often have a rich professional experience behind them, which they want to share, communicate and pass on.

The vast majority of our professors and lecturers are active professionals who work in parallel with the courses they give to students. They are therefore up to date with the latest trends and working methods.

"The game universe cannot come to life without the characters that are intended to integrate it. The game designer must be able to apprehend the motion's specificities, to understand and analyze what defines a character, while mastering the technical and timing constraints that will give the game its flow and reactivity. Our students, through this double approach of discovering animation but also its integration, develop technical and artistic skills, as well as anticipation, which is necessary for Game Design".

Artistic Direction
Rennes

Franck BARRÉ

As a leader, the artistic director participates in the creative process of the project by initiating, supervising and ensuring its successful completion. He must be able to ensure harmony and coherence at all levels of visual creation.
"The goal here is to bring both specific and technical knowledge by sharpening the students' 'common sense' so that the techniques learned are not a simple tool but a resource for the overall vision of a project.

DRAWING - ILLUSTRATION
Rennes

Thierry GARANCE

"Illustration requires dexterity and consideration."
"Whether it is to develop their personal plastic expression or to be able to adapt their style to the needs of a specific demand in Game Design, the drawing work required rigor and references,
originality and open-mindedness around a mastered speech in terms of content and form."

There are many ways to express yourself through drawing. My goal is that each student finds his or her own.

"Software development is a real tool for interacting with the machine and responds to very specific paradigms. Appropriating its mechanisms then allows it to be harmoniously integrated into a multidisciplinary team within the framework of video game production."

Game Design - Video game history
Rennes

Nicolas Loth

"The Game Designer, as the game's architect, must be able to use his passion, creativity, culture, reasoning, technical skills and communication to develop an innovative collective work that will meet the expectations of an evolving market. And if it doesn't change the world, this experience will leave a mark on players through memorable interactions, challenges and emotions. Our purpose is to train the designers of tomorrow's unforgettable experiences."

Drawing & graphic design
Toulouse

Antoine Fournier

We train video game designers. Therefore, drawing and graphic design have two objectives: to make our students professionals with a solid artistic culture and capable of being integrated into a team with graphic design specialists, but also to allow them to be versatile designers who can handle, in a small structure, the demands in graphic design.

Programming and new technologies
Toulouse

Matthieu Carron

The objective of this training is to provide students with a broad vision of the video game industry (graphics, programming, project management...) and to familiarize them with pre-production and production techniques, so that they can best prepare themselves for the realization of digital projects.
